Elisa is steppin' on water…

She’s stepping on water because it’s unbelievable the new path her musical journey has taken. To step or tap on water, one must be light, dreamy and magical among many other things, even the capacity to reflect is also a part of it. Her latest release achieves all these things with the organic approach used while developing this new offering. Unlike her previous album, which was created by mixing analog and digital elements to achieve a big sound, there’s something different about “Steppin' On Water.”

Elisa is one of Italy’s established artists and she hails from a northern town in Italy called Monfalcone, which is close to Venice. At the early age of 12 she had an inclination that she wanted to pursue a career in music. She taught herself to play the guitar and did a lot of singing. Artist like Otis Redding, Aretha Franklin, The Beatles, Smashing pumpkins and Whitney would be in her music player as she practiced and developed her vocal chops. Sixteen years later, Elisa has achieved platinum status; she released seven albums (including the latest release), worked on the main theme for many foreign films and now she’s moving towards becoming a household name in the US pop market. “Steppin' On Water,” is her third US release.

More than just another pop album with some cool songs to check out, "Steppin' On Water," can be considered a testament of creative intelligence, dedication and passion. The eleven-song album tells willingly of strategic writing, balanced with harmonious choir voices, acoustic guitars, organic tones, pianos, bell tones and at times intense transitions in the arrangements, however not over produced, leaving space for listeners to appreciate Elisa’s vocal interpretation of the songs.
“When I was putting this record together, I chose the songs that were more emotional and very personal. At the same time, the album has a sort of purity and lightness of mood.” Elisa noted.

The songs, “Love Is Requited,” and “Apologize,” (written by Michele Von Buren and Andrea Guerra)are featured in the film "Someday This Pain Will Be Useful To You," starring Oscar-winners Marcia Gay Harden and Ellen Burstyn, Lucy Liu, Peter Gallagher, Deborah Ann Woll, and Toby Rigbo. Other highlights from the album include the pop gem “Nostalgia,” the ballad “So Much of Me,” the hauntingly beautiful “Lullaby,” her amazingly tender interpretation of Queens of the Stone Age’s “I Never Came,” and a stripped-down live version of the aforementioned hit, “Dancing.”

Se Elisa potesse leggere che il 16 Giugno é il mio compleanno, e potesse farmi il regalo di un concerto vicino a massa, per es.
